What is the Minors Division?
Warren Park's Minors division is designed to help young players advance their skills in a competitive and supportive environment. The Minors Division uses a modified Coach Pitch model, where players pitch to the opposing team until the ball is put in play, the batter strikes out, or the pitcher throws 4 balls. Once a batter gets 4 balls, the offensive coach takes the mound to complete the batter's at-bat. This format helps balance the development of both hitting and pitching. Batters are encouraged to develop their ability to recognize balls and strikes, improving their understanding of the strike zone and their decision-making skills. Pitchers are encouraged to focus on their mechanics and form without worrying about always finding the strike zone. The Minors Division introduces a new level of competitiveness to the game while still maintaining a fun, low-pressure environment.
Who is Coach Pitch For?
The Minors Division is for children ages 9-10 as of 08/31. The Minors Division season runs from mid-April through the end of June. Each team generally has 1 practice and 2 games each week. Games are scheduled for 6 innings, and are completed in approximately than 2 hours. At the end of the season all teams participate in a playoff tournament, held the last week in June.
